- 1891 Canadian Census: This census was begun on April 6, 1891. Persons living in the household on that date should be enumerated. Information listed in this census may include the following: name, age, occupation, religious affiliation, place of birth, married/widowed, relationship to head of household, whether a person was French Canadian, place of birth of father and mother. A compilation of official enumerations of the people of a particular area with details of age, occupation, and birth localities of those enumerated. Later census records usually contain more information than earlier census records. Information varies from one country to another, but could include relationships, number of children in the family, birth localities of those enumerated as well as their parents, immigration dates, languages spoken, dates at the time of marriage, and previous military service.
