Notes - Crank, Rev. Edward (c.1676-1756), clergyman. Born c.1676, son of Edward Crank of Birmingham (Warks). Educated at Trinity College, Oxford (BA 1695; MA 1698; BD 1708); Proctor of the University of Oxford, 1706; tutor to John Willes, later Attorney General; rector of Stonesfield (Oxon), 1719; vicar of Great Waltham (Essex); appointed rector of Hatford (Berks), 1721 and vicar of Stanford-in-the-Vale (Berks), 1732. He married 18 Feb. 1732, Jane Abdy (1690-c.1765), dau of Sir John Abdy (c.1643-91), 2nd bt. of Albyns (q.v.), but had no issue.
His widow inherited a life interest in the Albyns estate from her nephew Sir John Abdy (c.1714-59), 4th bt. of Albyns (q.v.), and after her death it passed to Sir Anthony Thomas Abdy (c.1720-75), 5th bt. of Felix Hall (q.v.)
He died 28 June 1756; buried at Hatford (Berks). His widow died between 1762 and 1766.
